Financial adoption system for children in poverty
In Maldegem, the home base of MCC Verstraete, an estimated 300 children live in poverty. The corona crisis shows more clearly than ever the need for support in the areas of education and social development. That is why the College of Aldermen devised the 'AanZet in Maldegem' project, a financial 'adoption system' for Maldegem youngsters aged 0 to 16 who live in poverty. This system makes a budget available for school costs and meals, necessary clothing and other essential development costs.
MCC Verstraete takes up sponsorship
As one of the largest companies in Maldegem, MCC Verstraete takes on the sponsorship of the project.
"Poverty at home is often forgotten. Yet it is closer and more common than we might think. Children should be able to enjoy a carefree childhood, which is why we support this initiative."
By taking on the sponsorship, we want to encourage other companies to follow our example and support this project, because every child should have the opportunity to develop his or her full potential. Peter Grugeon, Managing Director MCC VerstraetePeter Grugeon, Managing Director MCC Verstraete
