During the 2020 year-end period, MCC Verstraete organized a walking campaign to encourage all employees to go out on foot for a good cause. The sponsored walk raised 5,500 euros for Kom Op Tegen Kanker.
MCC Verstraete focuses on the well-being and vitality of its employees with the 'We Care' program. This consists of 4 pillars that focus on exercise, healthy nutrition, relaxation and fun. Carla De Busschere, We Care ambassador within the company, explains: "Under normal circumstances, we organize We Care activities throughout the year in which our colleagues can participate. Now we had to do something different; a benefit walk in a large group is obviously not an option these days. We therefore called on all our colleagues to go for a walk, to walk, to get outside and to be sponsored per kilometer."
We immediately killed several birds with one stone: we encouraged our employees to keep moving, we created a group feeling in an alternative way by walking together towards a goal and we were able to raise money for a good cause!

The MCC Verstraete colleagues walked 2,729 kilometers, which was good for 2,729 euros. The management of the company did not only participate in the walk, but also decided to double the amount, resulting in a grand total of 5,500 euros for Kom Op Tegen Kanker. Peter Grugeon, managing director: "Health is the most beautiful thing you can wish for someone, which has become more apparent than ever in the last year. Besides the physical and mental well-being of our own employees, we also want to contribute to the health of others. It is therefore with great pleasure that we donate this beautiful check to Kom Op Tegen Kanker."
